Considering the statistics, I examined three stores that utilize Virtual Try-On (VTO) to evaluate their user experience and the effectiveness of their features. Specifically, I analyzed Maybelline, Zenni, and Ray-Bans to observe the functionality of their VTO and assessed the design, layout, and placement of these features to gain a deeper understanding of how they impact the usability of the company. Unfortunately, none of these brands integrated essential elements by providing accessibility features to assist users with disabilities

4 out of 6 interviewees expressed the need of accessibility features for Warby Parker's VTO
I conducted interviews with 6 interviewees, ranging from individuals with vision disabilities to those without, to test Warby Parker's Virtual Try-On (VTO) feature. The aim was to gain insights into users' preferences and assess whether additional features were necessary. My goal was to explore user pain points, with a focus on enhancing the accessibility of VTO. This information will guide the design of features that better meet users' needs.
After receiving the participants' responses, I started to organize their responses into categories, so I can understand what I need to work on. All six interviewees emphasized the importance of accessibility features in ensuring that everyone has an equal opportunity to have a better experience with usability. I categorized the responses from my user interviewees into two different groups to identify any trends within their opinions and feedback.

For my low-fidelity design, I mapped out 3 important task flows that I would like my participants to test for functionality and to understand how users navigate the screens and pages to accomplish the task. After examining the design of Warby Parker's website, I sought a design and CTAs that aligned with it. Subsequently, I included possible features that would be integrated into the VTO.

4 out of 5 participants found the accessibility features inclusive
I conducted usability testing with 5 participants to assess their ability to complete the task and gather feedback, enabling me to make any necessary iterations before proceeding to my high-fidelity design.
Overall, participants found the task extremely easy and successfully completed it without my assistance. They demonstrated a clear understanding of the icons and the functionalities associated with each feature, indicating that these features are intuitive for users to comprehend and recall when using accessibility features. Participants expressed appreciation for the potential features and mentioned how they could envision themselves using them if Warby Parker incorporates them.
Participants with vision disability mentioned that they can envision themselves utilizing the features while using the VTO

I wanted to incorporate a Call to Action (CTA) that allows users to retake their pictures and recordings, providing them with the freedom to capture as many as they desire until they find the right picture to save, or to save as many pictures as they would like when using the VTO.

After receiving feedback from usability testing, I observed that the alert message upon saving an image to the lookbook was unclear to users regarding the location of the lookbook. It could take them a considerable amount of time to figure out where the lookbook is located. Recognizing the importance of providing clear instructions on the location, I aimed to ensure users know precisely where to find their lookbook and saved images.

Finding reflections in my research
Finding reflections in my research
Importance of usability. After researching VR and AR accessibility, I noticed that there are barriers that we need to consider when creating a design. During my user interviews and usability testing, my users have made me realize how important it is to be considerate and empathetic in our research and design. Given that this was my first project involving accessibility features, it made me recognize the significance of considering individuals with different abilities when using technology or experiencing things digitally. This realization has inspired me to create more designs that promote inclusiveness and bring people together.
Simple features can have a significant impact. Since VTO is still a new technology, many protocols and accessibility feature regulations have not been implemented yet. By incorporating just a few features into the prototype, it transformed the user experience into a remarkably positive one, leading to overwhelmingly positive testing results. People expressed a strong desire for more of these features to be implemented, giving me the confidence that even seemingly minor changes can have a substantial impact on people's experiences.

Striking a balance between adhering to the brand design and incorporating my own creative elements. While contemplating the revisions I planned to make for Sprinkles, I grappled with the challenge of not straying too far from the established design. Despite my disagreement with their design and system, I was mindful of preserving the essence of the company's design. Balancing adherence to guidelines and incorporating my own design opinions, I recognized the importance of making compromises and sacrificing some of my preferences to fulfill the intended purpose of the design.
Being able to explore my options with limited circumstances. I found my creativity blocked, feeling constrained due to the limited resources at my disposal. However, I realized that rather than dwelling on the things I wished I could use, it was crucial to stay optimistic, embrace both my freedom and limitations, and concentrate on the available resources while redesigning the Sprinkles Cupcake website.
